About this opportunity
The United States Navy's Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAWARSYSCOM) has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source follow-on contract to L3Harris Technologies, Inc. The contract pertains to engineering support services for the Commercial Broadband Satellite Program (CBSP) Force Level Variant and Unit Level Variant terminals, components, and spares. The notice was published on January 30, 2025, and is associated with the Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Intelligence (C4I) Communications and Global Positioning System Navigation Program Office. The contract will be awarded under the authority of 10 U.S.C3204(a)(1) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, which allows for a sole source procurement when only one responsible source exists. The notice falls under the Radio and Television Broadcasting and Wireless Communications Equipment Manufacturing NAICS category.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to procure continued engineering services for maintaining, repairing, and supporting specific satellite communication system terminals and components. L3Harris Technologies, Inc. (formerly Harris Corporation) located in Palm Bay, Florida, is the sole designated contractor for this opportunity. The contract does not have a specific set-aside designation, indicating open competition is not applicable in this instance. Eligibility is effectively limited to L3Harris due to the sole source determination, which suggests the company possesses unique capabilities or proprietary technology critical to the CBSP system's ongoing operations. The notice does not outline specific contractor instructions or additional participation criteria beyond identifying L3Harris as the intended awardee. The contract supports the Navy's communication and navigation infrastructure, specifically focusing on maintaining satellite communication terminals that are likely crucial for military communication and strategic operations.
