About this opportunity

The Air Force Research Laboratory seeks proposals to develop a high power multi-spectral laser capable of emitting between 350-1750nm in either true broadband or discrete lines spaced less than 50nm apart, with an objective power spectral density of 200mW/nm and total beam power of 280W and quality M2 value below 1.5. Proposals will be evaluated based on technical merit and cost factors, with technical merit being the highest priority. The deadline for proposals is August 14, 2020.

There is no set-aside designation. The solicitation falls under NAICS code 336419 and PSC code Q999. Up to two awards of $5 million each are anticipated under cost-plus-fixed-fee contracts with a period of performance of approximately 15 months. Key deliverables include interim reports demonstrating achievement of the required spectral power densities and beam quality.

Update #3 · Latest ·

AFRL/RYD has interest in the development of a high power laser emitting broadly in the spectral range of 350nm-1750nm.  Emission may be true broadband, or in discrete lines spectrally spaced by less than 50nm.  The objective power spectral density is 200 mW/nm (280W total power), with a beam quality M2 value of less than 1.5 Individual tailorability of power and divergence by spectral subcomponent is beneficial, but not required.  The laser emission may be either true continous wave (CW) or quasi-CW with repetition rates greater than 1 MHz.

This notice is hereby updated to include the BAA and attachments.  Proposals are requested and are due 14 Aug 2020, 3:00 p.m. EST.

3 Aug 2020:  This notice is hereby updated to include Questions and Answers from Industry.  See the Attached.  There is no change to the Proposal due date.
