About this opportunity
The U.S. Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center is conducting a sources sought notice to identify qualified vendors capable of providing full overhaul and repair services for MTU/Detroit Diesel 6V92 engines. Contractors must possess on-site certified MTU technicians with 6V92 overhaul experience, dynamometer testing capabilities, and the ability to obtain all mandatory OEM parts required for complete overhauls. Additionally, vendors must be capable of repairing or rebuilding parts that are no longer available from MTU and must support up to 45 overhaul engines simultaneously. The government intends to award a single Firm Fixed-Price Indefinite Delivery Vehicle contract to the vendor demonstrating suitable relevant past performance within the past three years. All interested sources must submit their responses by October 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM EST, including organization details, contact information, SAM UEI, CAGE code, business size classification, and MTU certification.
This procurement opportunity has no set-aside designation and falls under NAICS code 811310 with a size standard of $12.5 million. The previous contract for this work was held by WW Williams under contract number 70Z04022D58600B00, with a performance period from January 28, 2022, to January 27, 2025. An amendment to the original notice clarifies that all parts must be replaced as new, though rebuilds are permitted for three specific 6V92 components due to obsolescence: injectors, blowers, and cylinder heads. The requirement to support up to 45 overhaul engines indicates a substantial workload capacity expectation for the successful contractor. No specific contract value or budget range has been disclosed in this sources sought notice.
