Award will be made to the lowest-priced technically acceptable (LPTA) offeror on a firm fixed-price basis, with all quotes remaining valid for 90 days. The solicitation was posted on April 1, 2026, with quotes due by April 9, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. ET, and all vendors must be registered in SAM.gov to be eligible for award.

Notice text
MSHA currently utilizes numerous Industrial Scientific MX6 gas detectors during mine emergencies. Due to the unpredictability of mine fires, explosions, and gas inundations, it is imperative to always keep all gas detection equipment ready for immediate use. Reliable instrumentation is mandatory for either making decisions during mine emergencies or making recommendations to district managers after an investigation.
MX6 detect oxygen, toxic gases, combustible gases. Without the MX6 Gas Monitor's, the inspectors will not be able to measure the toxics that cause fatal health issues if the gases surpass the alarmed threshold and will not be permitted into the mines without the detectors.
