About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime is seeking to procure two units of alternating current motors under NSN 7H-6105-996658340, with delivery FOB origin required by July 11, 2025. The procurement involves specialized motor components for which the government does not own the technical data or rights, making it uneconomical to reverse engineer or purchase data rights from additional sources. This pre-solicitation notice establishes the government's intent to acquire these electrical motors through a competitive procurement process restricted to qualified small business concerns. The agency has determined that commercial item acquisition procedures under FAR Part 12 will not be used for this procurement, though interested parties may identify their capability to provide commercial alternatives within 15 days of the notice. Technical specifications and supporting documentation can be obtained through the DoD Single Stock Point or the ASSIST-Online system at http://quicksearch.dla.mil/.
This procurement opportunity is designated as a 100% total small business set-aside under FAR clause 52.219-6, with the specific type of small business set-aside to be determined in the formal solicitation through various potential designations including HUBZone, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Women-Owned, or Historically Black College and University set-asides. The contract calls for a quantity of two units of the specified alternating current motors, with the procurement following technical data package version 003 and reference number A/405TNC/38. No incumbent contractors or potential award values are identified in this pre-solicitation notice. The compressed timeline from posting on July 2, 2025 to the July 11, 2025 due date indicates an expedited procurement schedule. The specialized nature of these motors and the government's lack of technical data rights suggests this may be a sole-source or limited competition procurement within the small business community.
