About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime issued a Limited/Sole Source Justification Notice on February 18, 2026, for the acquisition of an Alternating Current Motor (NSN 6105-01-547-0705) from L-3 Communications Westwood Corporation (CAGE 58475), to which contract SPE7M126C0007 was awarded on February 3, 2026. The justification for sole source procurement is based on the item's requirement for engineering source approval to maintain quality and part integrity, combined with L-3 Communications' unique design capability, engineering skills, manufacturing knowledge, and exclusive ownership of data rights and technical information that are not economically available to the Government. The procurement encompasses a base quantity of 144 units with a 200% option for an additional 288 units, totaling a maximum of 432 motors. Market research conducted by the contracting officer, including a Sources Sought Notice posted in late December 2023 and direct contact with eight potential sources, confirmed no viable alternate sources exist capable of meeting the requirement. Specific contract values and the base cost estimate remain redacted in the justification documentation; however, the anticipated cost was determined to be fair and reasonable based on review of prior procurements and market research findings.
