About this opportunity

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Shared Services Center has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for a Modular Helium Compression System to be installed at the High Pressure Gas Facility at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. This Special Notice, posted on January 6, 2026, seeks to identify qualified original equipment manufacturers capable of supplying two commercial off-the-shelf, modular, skid-mounted helium compression systems designed for high-pressure helium applications. The RFI explicitly targets OEM equipment manufacturers rather than general contractors or engineering firms. Potential respondents are invited to submit information regarding their capability to provide either equipment only or a complete turnkey solution that includes surrounding infrastructure design, fabrication, delivery, installation, and commissioning. The submission deadline is January 16, 2026.

The objective of this RFI is to assess market availability for helium compression equipment meeting specific performance and operational requirements, including a system capable of handling helium inlet pressures of 50-175 PSIG and achieving final discharge pressures of 6000 PSIG with a maximum capacity of 300 SCFM using VFD-driven technology. Key requirements include fully automated operation with remote and local control capabilities, MODBUS TCP/IP communication, oil removal filtration systems maintaining residual oil content below 0.01 mg/m³, and modular, skid-mounted, cabinet-enclosed configurations suitable for exterior operation at Stennis Space Center's seasonal temperatures. OEMs selected for the turnkey scope must provide fabrication, factory testing, delivery, installation, commissioning, operator training, and comprehensive documentation. Eligibility is limited to original equipment manufacturers demonstrating capability in air and gas compressor manufacturing; responses should address the system's seamless integration with existing facility utilities and industry-standard transfer connections.
