About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy's Military Sealift Command (MSC) has issued a Special Notice for a Ship Repair Industry Day scheduled on January 16, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia. This event is designed to bring together ship repair industry professionals and MSC representatives for a comprehensive day of information sharing and networking. The special notice, posted on December 3, 2024, invites contractors and businesses within the ship building and repairing sector (NAICS 336611) to participate in this industry-focused gathering. The event will be held at the Hilton Norfolk The Main Hotel and is open to businesses interested in understanding MSC's contracting opportunities and maintenance processes. The notice is not restricted to any specific set-aside category, indicating broad potential participation.

Contractors interested in attending must register by January 3, 2025, by contacting John Hartzell and providing their company details and attendee information. The industry day will cover multiple critical topics including small business opportunities, maintenance planning, ship maintenance process improvements, performance metrics, equipment requirements, and shipyard safety protocols. A full agenda will be published no later than December 20, 2024, giving potential attendees advance notice of the specific session details. The event's objectives appear to be fostering communication between MSC and industry partners, providing insights into future maintenance projections, and creating a platform for open dialogue through a dedicated Q&A session. While no specific eligibility criteria are mentioned beyond the ship repair NAICS classification, the broad range of topics suggests the event is designed to be informative for various levels of ship repair and maintenance businesses.
