About this opportunity
The Office of Naval Research is conducting market research through a Request for Information to identify potential sources capable of supplying a research-grade confocal Raman microscope for the Naval Research Laboratory. The procurement seeks a comprehensive, turnkey, automated mapping system specifically designed for high-resolution structure interrogation of wide- and ultrawide bandgap materials. The system must include multiple lasers (325-405 nm, 532 nm, 785 nm), multiple detectors, a temperature-controlled stage operating between 77-675 K, polarization capabilities, and advanced software for instrument control and data analysis. Interested vendors must submit a seven-page Capability Statement that includes company contact information, technical capabilities, commerciality details, product descriptions, and a rough order of magnitude cost estimate. The response deadline is August 15, 2025, at 4:00 PM Eastern, with submissions directed to Graham Fisher at graham.w.fisher.civ@us.navy.mil.
This opportunity does not include any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified vendors. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the documentation. The government has not disclosed specific budget ranges or award values, requesting only rough order of magnitude cost estimates from potential suppliers. The technical specifications require a compact system footprint of less than 2.5m x 2.5m, operation via a Dell computer with Windows 11, and inclusion of at least five software licenses. Additional requirements include complete installation services, on-site training for two personnel, a 12-month warranty period, and the option for ongoing service contracts with preventative maintenance and system updates.
