About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, VISN 20, is preparing to procure microbiological media, reagents, and consumables by purchase order for the Seattle Division Microbiology Department, with capability statements due November 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM PST. No set-aside is designated. The attached RFI is a sources-sought market research notice, not a request for quotes, and the government does not guarantee that a solicitation will be issued. Network Contracting Office 20 issues the RFI on behalf of the Puget Sound VA Medical Center. Submissions go to Hector Baltazar at hector.baltazar@va.gov and must include business information, SAM Unique Identifier Number, proof of capability, and copies of applicable government licenses.

Products are delivered to the Microbiology Lab at Seattle Division, weekly (typically Tuesdays) or as needed, with next-day delivery required for temperature-sensitive perishables. Shipping costs must be included in item pricing. The base period runs February 1, 2027, through January 31, 2028, with four optional renewal years through January 31, 2032. Appendix B lists approximately 150 distinct products, with annual quantities ranging from single units to over 1,100 units for items such as Columbia blood agar and CNA agar. The government estimates volumes but guarantees no purchase quantities and may modify specifications if items are discontinued. The requirement includes long shelf-life items (Oxidase, Indole, Acridine Orange), perishable selective agar, biochemical test kits, and ATCC organisms for CAP-mandated media quality control. The vendor must provide Safety Data Sheets on request, order acknowledgments with tracking information, and monthly delivery coordination. No security requirements, government-furnished equipment, or access to protected patient information apply. The procurement is coded NAICS 325998 and PSC 6515. No incumbent or industry day is named.
