About this opportunity

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is seeking qualified contractors to replace the fence and gate system at the Farmingdale Airport Traffic Control Tower (FRG ATCT) in East Farmingdale, NY. The project involves installing a new 25-foot wide vertical pivot gate with card reader access, a two-way video intercom system, and relocating an existing pedestrian gate. Interested vendors must be registered in SAM.gov, have no exclusions, demonstrate positive past performance, and present low risk to the FAA. The procurement will use a competitive Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contract awarded to the lowest responsive bidder. Vendors must submit a statement of interest via email by 4:00 p.m. Central Time on February 12, 2025, with the key dates including a site visit on March 3, 2025, quote submission by March 7, 2025, and an estimated contract award on March 14, 2025.

The FAA has not yet finalized the set-aside strategy but is considering designations for Small Businesses, 8(a) program participants, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses, Woman-Owned Small Businesses, and potentially local vendors within 50 miles of the work site. While no specific contract value is mentioned, the project involves comprehensive gate and fence replacement with detailed technical requirements including UL 325 Class IV safety standards, battery backup systems, and wind load resistance up to 75 mph. The contract will require a two-year guarantee on workmanship and materials, with work to be performed during standard business hours (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday). Contractors must adhere to FAA security protocols, provide proper personnel identification, and integrate the new gate system with existing security infrastructure. The electrical and construction work will require precise integration with current utility and site layout, as detailed in the attached technical drawings.
