About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) is procuring manual drive shafts classified as miscellaneous aircraft accessories and components under PSC 1680. The procurement is restricted to Government-approved sources only, as the item is flight-critical and adequate technical data is not available to support full and open competition. Prospective vendors must submit detailed source approval information demonstrating their company's experience in producing the same or similar items, or provide comprehensive technical data if this represents a new product line for their organization. Non-approved sources that fail to provide all required documentation as outlined in the applicable NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) Source Approval Information Brochure will not be considered for award. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on February 6, 2025, with a due date of December 29, 2025, allowing potential bidders substantial time to prepare their proposals and source approval documentation.
This procurement uses no set-asides and specifies a requirement for 5 units of National Stock Number 7R-1680-016099070-P8 (Reference Number 454892-1003) with FOB Origin delivery terms. The pre-solicitation notice does not identify any incumbent contractors or provide an explicit award value or budget range. Interested vendors should note that if source approval evaluation cannot be completed in time to meet Government delivery requirements, the procurement timeline may be affected. Contractors currently undergoing source approval evaluation should submit a copy of their approval request cover letter along with their proposal. Additional information regarding spares and repair source approval requirements is available through the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Business Opportunities portal.
