About this opportunity

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Zimbabwe intends to make a sole source award to Africa University (AU) for the Malaria Entomological Surveillance for Zimbabwe (MES4Zim) Activity. This 5-year, $4,710,000 activity aims to strengthen national capacity to generate quality entomological data required for effective and efficient selection, deployment, and use of vector control interventions needed to achieve malaria elimination in Zimbabwe. The award will expand the existing entomological surveillance from 6 to a minimum of 10 sites across 5 ecological zones to generate more representative data. No solicitation package will be issued, as this is a notice of intent for a sole source award under the statutory authority to avoid adverse effects on foreign aid programs.

This opportunity is not set aside for any specific business category. Africa University has previously completed requirements under an existing Fixed Amount Award for this work, but additional funding is needed to fulfill the program objectives. The anticipated award value is $4,710,000 over 5 years to expand the existing entomological surveillance from 6 to a minimum of 10 sites across 5 ecological zones in Zimbabwe.
