Notice text

The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), Office of Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services (OSELS) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides statistical information that will guide actions and policies to improve the health of the American people. As the Nation's principal health statistics agency, NCHS leads the way with accurate, relevant, and timely data.

The National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS) is legislatively established to advise the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). There are sixteen members appointed by the Secretary and two members appointed by congress. The NCVHS provides advice, consultation, assistance, and makes recommendations to the Secretary through the DHHS Data Council. These recommendations address issues concerning policies and plans to develop major national systems of health data collections in the Department, on coordination of Federal health data requirements, and on analyses over a wide range of questions relating to general health problems of the population, health care resources, the use of health care services, and health care financing and expenditures. In these matters, the Committee consults with components of the Department, other Federal entities, and non-federal organizations as appropriate. In addition, the Committee conducts public hearings in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and other regions in the United States as deemed necessary by the NCVHS.

The contractor shall deliver support services inherent in conducting numerous meetings. Time frames and milestones will be set for each scheduled national advisory committee meeting and hearing. Most meetings will be held in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. Committee hearings will be held geographically within the Continental United States. Acceptance of the work shall be based purely on performance of the work and timeliness in which associated planning of tasks are carried out.
