The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), St. Paul District has a requirement for a contractor capable of providing all labor, material, and equipment necessary to meet the requirements for the Lock and Dam No. 4 Lower Guide Wall End Cell project.
Scope of work is to construct a pile founded, concrete tremie filled 33 ft diameter sheet pile cell adjacent to the downstream end of the lower guide wall at Lock and Dam No. 4 in Alma, WI. Designed as an independent structure, the main function of this end cell is to protect the existing guide wall from further distresses, no loads will be transferred from the end cell to the existing guide wall structure. For creating a smooth and flush riverward transition, a precast structural wall panel will be installed along the riverward vertical face between the existing guide wall structure and newly constructed end cell. The 33 ft diameter steel sheet piling cell will act as stay in place formwork for the tremie filled concrete. A Thermal Analysis will be required for approval prior to the placement of concrete. If construction is to take place during the navigation season a helper boat will also be required. Demolition will include the existing gage house, concrete along the existing tie-back wall, and a 2 ft thick underwater concrete scour apron and riprap. Concrete repair includes vertical surfaces repairs long a downstream wingwall. In addition, an underwater 2 ft thick concrete scour protection apron and riprap will be placed.
The anticipated magnitude of this project is between $5.0 Million and $10.0 Million.
It is anticipated that this project will be solicited in or around April 2023. All dates are tentative and for planning purposes only.
