About this opportunity
The Naval Sea Systems Command seeks design and fabrication of six storage/shipping containers for LCS-2 variant LM2500 removal rails, with proposals due June 10, 2026. The procurement is set aside for Women-Owned Small Businesses and uses firm fixed-price terms with unrestricted acquisition (no additional WOSB limitations).
Place of performance is Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with all work performed at the contractor's facility. The container must meet detailed specifications: 25 feet by 4.5 feet by 4 feet in dimension, with riser height increased from 3 inches to 4 inches to accommodate larger forklifts, stackability for four or more crates, a resealable waterproof locking lid, water-resistant and corrosion-resistant exterior construction using 6061-T6 aluminum, crane-lifting fixtures, reinforced horizontal crossbars and vertical supports, four sets of handles on the lid, and a label plate for ship set identification. The contractor must update an existing prototype aluminum container design and deliver one prototype to Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division for government approval, followed by five additional production containers upon prototype approval.
The contract structure includes four line items: engineering drawings, the first removal rail container (prototype), five remaining containers, and monthly Contract Status Reports. The contractor must submit professional engineering drawings within six months of award, with a total 18-month delivery period from award. The NAICS code is 541330, Engineering Services, and the PSC code is J028, Maint/Repair/Rebuild Of Equipment—Engines, Turbines, and Components. Award will be made to the lowest-priced technically acceptable quote. An amendment issued May 28, 2026 extended the due date from June 1 to June 10, 2026; offerors must acknowledge receipt of this amendment.
