About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force's 628th Contracting Squadron at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina has issued a Special Notice announcing their intent to award a single source contract for lavatory service truck repairs. This notice, posted on July 2, 2025, is specifically not a request for competitive quotes but rather an informational announcement under Federal Acquisition Regulation 13.106-1(b)(1). The contracting squadron intends to award a firm-fixed-price purchase order to Reading Truck Equipment, LLC for repair services that will preserve the manufacturer's warranty. The reference number for this procurement is FA441825QLSTR, and the contract falls under NAICS code 811121 for automotive body, paint, and interior repair and maintenance services.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform the contracting community of the government's intent to use single source procurement authority for purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold, based on the determination that only one source is reasonably available. While the Air Force plans to negotiate directly with Reading Truck Equipment, LLC, they have indicated that responsible sources may still submit capability statements or quotations for consideration, though any decision to compete the requirement remains at the government's discretion. Contractors interested in submitting responses must direct their communications to Contract Specialist Stephanie Woods at stephanie.woods.7@us.af.mil no later than 5:00 PM EDT on July 14, 2025. The procurement focuses specifically on lavatory service truck repairs while maintaining the manufacturer's warranty coverage, suggesting specialized technical requirements that may justify the single source approach.
