About this opportunity
The National Park Service, Pacific West Region, is seeking contractors to install two self-supporting communications towers and extend one existing tower within Lake Mead National Recreation Area to enhance the park's Land Mobile Radio System. The procurement includes furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, and incidentals necessary to complete the work at three distinct locations: Boulder Beach Ranger Station (60-foot self-support tower), Willow Beach Saddle Communications Site (30-foot self-support tower), and Hill Top Communications Site (10-foot extension to an existing 40-foot lattice tower). Key requirements include constructing concrete foundations on normal soils, installing antenna mounts, wave guides, and safety climb systems, with the Hill Top Tower components being government-furnished property. The acquisition will be evaluated under NAICS code 237130 (Power and Communication Line and Related Structures Construction) with a size standard of $45 million, and will be conducted as an Invitation for Bid (IFB). The pre-solicitation notice was posted on April 6, 2026, with a May 27, 2026 due date for proposals.
This contract opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, restricting competition to small business entities meeting the $45 million size standard threshold. No incumbent contractor or specific award value information is provided in the pre-solicitation notice. The work encompasses three separate installation projects across multiple locations in the Boulder City, Nevada area, all of which are accessible by road or are located near pavement. The Hill Top extension project specifically requires modification of an existing 40-foot Valmont lattice tower through the addition of tower sections, new sector frame antenna mounts, a new wave guide ladder, and a new safety climb system. Contractors responding to this opportunity should anticipate a comprehensive scope of work involving site preparation, foundation construction, structural installation, and communication equipment integration across the three geographically distributed sites.
