About this opportunity

The U.S. Embassy in Harare is soliciting quotations for preventive maintenance services on four Kone traction elevators to maintain them in safe, reliable, and efficient operating condition. The Department of State's U.S. Embassy Harare seeks a contractor to provide comprehensive maintenance services including monthly scheduled inspections, 24-hour emergency call-back service with one-hour response time, spare parts supply, annual safety testing, and all associated labor, equipment, and materials. Quoters must demonstrate three years of similar elevator maintenance experience, be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM), carry comprehensive general liability insurance ($100,000 bodily injury / $500,000 property damage per occurrence) and workers' compensation insurance, and have established business operations in Zimbabwe. The Government intends to award a firm fixed-price contract to the lowest-priced, responsible, and acceptable quoter based on initial quotations without discussions, though discussions may occur with quoters in the competitive range if necessary. The deadline for quotation submission is 1700 hours (Harare Time) on May 11, 2026, with a mandatory pre-quotation conference and site visit scheduled for May 4, 2026 at 10:00 AM; prospective quoters must register for site access by April 29, 2026.

This solicitation carries no set-aside designation and does not identify any current contractor or incumbent. The contract is structured as a one-year base period with two optional one-year renewal periods, requiring quoters to submit separate line-item pricing for routine monthly maintenance (12 months), Kone elevator spare parts, elevator load testing, Defense Base Act insurance, and Value Added Tax. The four elevators are identical Kone traction units installed in April 2017 with a capacity of 1800-2000 kilograms and a speed of 100 feet per minute. Services will be performed at the U.S. Embassy Harare located at 2 Lorraine Drive, Bluffhill, Harare, Zimbabwe, with no specific budget range disclosed in the solicitation materials.
