About this opportunity
The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, Pacific (NAVFAC Pacific) is conducting market research to identify potential sources for Knox-Box Fire Department Access Boxes and Knox Gate and Key Switch systems for the Fiscal Year 2027 Missile Defense Agency Project 698 at Naval Base, Guam. The procurement specifically seeks fire department access boxes equivalent to the Knox Box 3200 series that can store building access keys and electronic access cards, featuring high security construction with specific steel thickness requirements, UL listing as an anti-theft device, and compatibility with existing base fire department master keys. Additionally, the agency requires fire department gate and key switches that provide rapid access through electronic gates, feature weather-resistant operation, maintain UL 437 listing, and accept the existing base master key. Interested vendors must submit detailed technical data demonstrating their products meet all specified requirements for comprehensive government evaluation of system compatibility. All responses must be submitted electronically to Ms. Wanda Okemura at wanda.l.okemura.civ@us.navy.mil no later than August 20, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time.
This pre-solicitation notice does not include any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified vendors who can demonstrate equivalent performance to the Knox Company's specified products. The notice indicates an intent to use brand name products manufactured by Knox Company, suggesting they may be the incumbent or preferred supplier for these specialized fire safety access systems. No specific award values, budget ranges, or quantities are disclosed in this market research phase, as the government is focused on identifying alternative sources that can meet the stringent security, durability, and compatibility requirements. The procurement timeline extends into Fiscal Year 2027 for the Enhanced Integrated Air and Missile Defense Phase 2 project, indicating this is part of a larger, multi-year defense infrastructure initiative. The government emphasizes that incomplete or vague submittals will be disregarded, and all information provided becomes government property and will not be returned to vendors.
