About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Nuclear Weapons Center is seeking a Design-Build electrical repair contractor for Kirtland Air Force Base to replace existing 1600A switchboard breakers with new "draw-out" style breakers in Building 27496. The project requires a contractor with licensed design professionals capable of providing comprehensive design and construction services, including field verifications, labor, tools, equipment, permits, and licenses. Evaluation criteria will focus on contractors' demonstrated capabilities in removing and replacing high-capacity switchboard breakers, working with draw-out style circuit breakers, and reconnecting associated wiring and electrical systems. Interested firms must submit a 5-page response by June 16, 2025, to Contracting Specialist SrA Edward Shults and Contracting Officer SrA James Trill, providing company details, small business status, and at least two examples of similar past projects. The response should highlight the firm's technical expertise and ability to execute complex electrical infrastructure upgrades.
The contract is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, with potential contractors required to specify their small business classification, such as small-disadvantaged, service-disabled veteran-owned, or HUBZone. The anticipated contract magnitude ranges between $500,000 and $1,000,000, with a NAICS code of 238210 for Electrical Contractors and Other Wiring Installation Contractors. The total project duration is estimated at 421 days, including design submittals, government reviews, construction, and final inspections. The project involves critical electrical infrastructure work, including replacing specific breakers, establishing a vital bus with backup power, and integrating HMI/PLC operations for breaker control. Contractors must be prepared to work in a secure facility with strict access requirements, including U.S. citizenship verification and multiple forms of government-issued identification for all personnel.
