About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command has issued a Special Notice regarding a sole-source purchase order for Kalahari Resort. The notice, posted on May 1, 2025, with a response deadline of May 6, 2025, outlines the intent to award a contract for hosting three 2-night and 3-day retreat events for the 688 CW Chaplin Corps. The contract opportunity is specifically for events scheduled on June 6-8, June 27-29, and August 22-24, 2025. The solicitation is for a facility located within two hours of Joint Base San Antonio, Texas, with the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock, Texas, being the identified potential vendor. The notice is issued under FAR 13.106-l(b)(l)(i) and is categorized under the NAICS code for Hotels and Motels.

The primary objective of this retreat is to support military personnel by helping them develop personal and spiritual resources, enhance mental toughness, and improve professional functionality. The resort must provide a comprehensive range of amenities including rock climbing, a water park, bowling, conference facilities, and dining options. While this is a potential sole-source award to Kalahari Resort, the notice explicitly states that it is not a competitive quote request but rather seeks to determine if other entities can meet similar retreat requirements in the future. Interested parties are invited to inquire about the opportunity, with the goal of potentially expanding options for future military chaplain corps retreats. The retreat's broader purpose is to assist military personnel in resolving personal and professional concerns, ultimately improving their service effectiveness and interpersonal relationships. Potential contractors should note that the specific requirements include proximity to the base, diverse recreational amenities, and the ability to host structured group retreat programming.
