About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Installation and Mission Support Center published a sole source justification for maintenance and software updates for four Vision 60 quadrupedal unmanned ground vehicles (robotic dogs) at Tyndall Air Force Base. The contract was awarded to Ghost Robotics Corporation on September 8, 2025, for a one-year period running from September 2, 2025, to September 1, 2026, with an estimated value under $750,000. The sole source justification is based on Ghost Robotics being the original equipment manufacturer with exclusive software licensing agreements, making them the only vendor capable of providing the required comprehensive maintenance services. The maintenance package includes all necessary software updates, full hardware coverage, priority maintenance with shipping, and preventative maintenance scheduled every 4,000 walk hours, though it excludes government-installed third-party devices covered under separate manufacturer warranties. Market research conducted through a Request for Information on SAM.gov confirmed that only one vendor could meet the specific maintenance requirements for these specialized robotic systems.
