About this opportunity
Air Combat Command intends to sole-source Joint Range Extension (JRE) Helpdesk Support to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), with response deadline August 26, 2026. The contracting office has issued a sole-source justification under FAR 12.102(a) for an acquisition at or below the simplified acquisition threshold, citing SAIC as the only contractor capable of providing software, hardware, production, and support for the JRE system.
SAIC is the original equipment manufacturer and holds exclusive proprietary rights to JRE software, technical designs, and fabrication drawings. The justification establishes that no other source can legally or technically produce, modify, or provide depot-level support for the system. Procuring from SAIC is necessary to maintain interoperability with 1,300+ JRE systems currently fielded across the Department of Defense and to ensure continuity of support without jeopardizing mission requirements. Utilizing an alternative product would compromise military interoperability, void critical support lifelines, and create unacceptable mission-failure risks.
Place of performance is Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida (325th Fighter Wing). The work falls under NAICS 541512 (Computer Systems Design Services) and PSC 7B22 (IT and Telecom — Compute: Servers). The contracting officer is Karl M. Deffert, GS-12, DAF. Technical point of contact is TSgt Lawrence J. Scroggins at lawrence.scroggins@us.af.mil or 850-283-8512.
