About this opportunity
The Department of the Army is soliciting industry capabilities to produce and provide spare components for the Joint Service General Protective Masks (JSGPM) family—the M50, M51, M53, and M53A1—with RFI responses due by June 12, 2026. Army Contracting Command - Warren anticipates awarding a multiple-year requirements contract for Fiscal Years 2027–2031 with delivery orders to execute production.
The M50 is a lightweight protective mask for ground and shipboard personnel; the M51 is designed for combat vehicle personnel; the M53A1 is a NIOSH-certified full-face air-purifying respirator (APR) for special operations personnel with capability to function as a powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) and provide continuous CBRN protection for up to 24 hours; the M53 is obsolete except for one gasket component. The RFI requests information on production of facepiece assemblies, hoods, valves, hoses, carriers, and other accessories across multiple sizes (extra small through large).
Avon Protection Systems is the incumbent provider. No complete Technical Data Package is available. Respondents must address capability to produce complete systems and components in compliance with specified performance specifications, provide production schedules with delivery timelines for production verification testing, indicate sustainable monthly production rates, describe manufacturing experience with similar CBRN systems, demonstrate quality system certifications, and identify components the company can manufacture or provide. Responses must be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Adobe Acrobat format (maximum 3.5 megabytes per email) to Evan Graham, Contract Specialist. Companies must be registered in the Joint Certification Program to access RFI attachments. This RFI is for informational purposes only and does not constitute a commitment to award.
