About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 1 has issued a Special Notice for maintenance and repair of Stryker In-Touch/Secure II Beds and Stretchers at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System's West Haven and Newington campuses. The notice describes a potential sole source procurement under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13 for equipment maintenance services. Specifically, the VA intends to work directly with Stryker due to the company's unique service capabilities, including proprietary field service technicians called ProCare Services. The medical equipment in question requires specialized maintenance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts and exclusive diagnostic tools. The notice covers maintenance services for critical medical equipment used across the VA healthcare facilities.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to provide transparency about a potential sole source contract and allow interested parties to submit supporting documentation for the VA's consideration. Contractors have until April 14, 2025, to respond to the notice by sending information to Nathan Langone at Nathan.Langone@va.gov. While this is not a competitive proposal request, the VA will review any submitted materials to determine whether a competitive procurement might be appropriate. The determination to pursue competitive or sole source procurement remains entirely at the discretion of the Contracting Officer. The opportunity is categorized under NAICS code 811210 for Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance and PSC code J065 for Medical Equipment Maintenance and Repair. Potential contractors should note that Stryker's exclusive service model, including its proprietary tools and OEM parts, forms the basis for the proposed sole source approach.
