About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration, specifically Veterans Integrated Service Network 10, has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to negotiate a sole source contract with Probo Medical for service and maintenance of GE DEXA iDXA Units. The contract will be located at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan, and will encompass a base period with four additional option years. The procurement will utilize Simplified Acquisition Procedures under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302-1, which allows for sole source procurement when only one responsible source exists. The contract falls under NAICS code 811210 for Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance, with a specific PSC code of J065 for medical equipment maintenance and repair.

The primary objective of this Special Notice is to secure comprehensive maintenance services for medical imaging equipment, specifically GE Healthcare IDXA Imaging units. Contractors interested in challenging the sole source determination must submit responses demonstrating clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the government. All responses must be submitted via email to the contracting officer no later than 12:00 PM EST on December 9, 2024, with no telephonic inquiries accepted. The required services include planned maintenance, corrective actions, repairs, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts replacement, technical support, and proprietary software updates and patches. While the notice indicates Probo Medical as the intended vendor, the VA is open to alternative proposals that can effectively prove competitive advantage. The contract aims to ensure continuous and reliable maintenance of critical medical diagnostic equipment at the VA medical facility.
