About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 23 (VISN 23) has published a Special Notice for GE Imaging Equipment Maintenance & Service, issued as a Notice of Intent for a proposed sole source contract. This announcement, posted on December 2, 2025, is being disseminated in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 5.101(a)(1) and represents the VA's intention to award a firm-fixed price contract directly to GE Precision Healthcare LLC. The sole source award is justified under 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1), as implemented by FAR 13.106-1(b), on the basis that GE is the only vendor authorized to perform maintenance on their proprietary medical imaging equipment and is uniquely capable of meeting the VA's requirements. The contract falls under NAICS code 811210 and product/service code J065, covering electronic and precision equipment repair and maintenance services.
The primary objective of this contract is to provide comprehensive maintenance and service support for GE imaging equipment across VISN 23 facilities located in Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, with service coverage spanning January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026, and one potential annual renewal option. Interested vendors must submit capability statements by December 12, 2025 at 5:00 PM Central Time to cameron.rick@va.gov, including organizational details, UEI number, contact information, and a comprehensive demonstration of experience and capability to provide the required services. While this is not a competitive solicitation, the VA is conducting a market survey to assess industry capability; failure to respond may affect the government's evaluation of industry performance potential. Required services include on-site troubleshooting and repair, preventive maintenance, 24/7 technical support, remote diagnostics, OEM parts replacement, factory-certified technicians positioned within five hours of each medical center, and comprehensive service documentation, with service options available for extended coverage, response time guarantees, and uptime commitments.
