About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration, specifically Veterans Integrated Service Network 10 (VISN 10), has issued a Special Notice of Intent to Sole Source a non-competitive procurement with Varian Medical Systems. This announcement indicates the government's intention to award a contract for comprehensive maintenance services of Varian TrueBeam radiation therapy equipment at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. The procurement is classified under NAICS code 334517 (Irradiation Apparatus Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,000 employees and Product Service Code J065 (Maintenance, Repair, and Rebuilding of Medical, Dental, and Veterinary Equipment and Supplies). Varian Medical Systems has been determined as the only responsible source meeting the government's suitability criteria pursuant to 41 USC 1901. This notice is published in compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) sections 5.101 and 5.203 and explicitly states that this is not a request for formal proposals, quotes, or technical information.
The procurement seeks a Firm Fixed Price, Definitive contract consisting of a one-year base period with four optional one-year periods to provide maintenance services including parts, labor, software and firmware updates, technical support, and system upgrades performed by certified Varian technicians during normal business hours and in compliance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), OSHA, and VA standards. The response deadline is February 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM Eastern Time, and interested parties should contact Jacob Bishop, Contract Specialist, or Kristina L. Peart, Contracting Officer, at the provided email addresses. This sole source award is justified as Varian Medical Systems is the only contractor meeting the established suitability criteria as documented in the Statement of Work, making it ineligible for competition. Responses submitted will be treated as information only, and no entitlement to government payment or reimbursement of costs will arise from contractor submissions or the government's use of such information. The procurement represents the government's commitment to maintaining specialized medical radiation therapy equipment at the VA Medical Center through the original equipment manufacturer's certified support services.
