About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 15, issued a Special Notice on February 17, 2026, announcing its intent to award a sole source contract for anesthesia vaporizers and ventilators service and maintenance to Draeger, Inc. The VA determined that only Draeger, Inc. is a responsible source capable of satisfying the agency's requirements under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1. The services will be provided to two VA Medical Centers: Leavenworth VA Medical Center in Kansas and Topeka VA Medical Center in Kansas. The contract falls under NAICS code 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) and Product Service Code J065, with a size standard of $34.0 million. This is a Notice of Intent to Sole Source, not a competitive solicitation.

The objective of this Special Notice is to inform interested parties of the VA's intent to award a sole source contract and to provide an opportunity for any other potential contractors to challenge this determination by submitting evidence of their capability to provide the required services. Interested parties must submit a capabilities statement via email to paul.dixon@va.gov by February 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM Central Time, referencing solicitation number 36C25526Q0181 in the subject line; the statement must provide clear and unambiguous evidence of the submitting party's capability to deliver the services. Verbal responses and phone calls will not be accepted, and only written email submissions are considered valid. There are no formal eligibility criteria established for this notice, as the VA has already determined that Draeger, Inc. is the sole source; however, any contractor believing they can satisfy the requirements is permitted to submit a capabilities statement for government consideration. If no viable responses are received by the deadline, the VA will proceed with sole source negotiations with Draeger, Inc.
