About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Integrated Service Network 6 (Network Contracting Office 6) issued a Special Notice on January 12, 2026, announcing its intent to sole source a maintenance contract with Advanced Sterilization Products for STERRAD Sterilization System equipment at the Salem VA Medical Center in Salem, Virginia. This Special Notice is not a competitive solicitation but rather a notification of the government's intention to negotiate directly with the identified contractor. The notice provides an opportunity for interested parties to submit supporting documentation demonstrating their ability to meet the stated requirements, though the final determination to compete the acquisition remains solely within the government's discretion. The procurement falls under NAICS Code 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) with a size standard of $34 million and PSC Code J065.
The primary objective of this sole source procurement is to secure comprehensive annual maintenance services for STERRAD NX sterilization systems, including all transportation, labor, parts, materials, tools, specialized equipment, unlimited software updates, technical support, and supervision. The period of performance extends from the date of award through November 3, 2026, with four available option years. Interested contractors must submit responses by January 14, 2026, at 12 PM Eastern Time via email to Natasha.leahy@va.gov, and must provide sufficient supporting documentation to demonstrate compliance capabilities; telephone inquiries will not be accepted. Only Advanced Sterilization Products technicians are authorized to service the STERRAD systems, which establishes the justification for the sole source procurement approach. While responses will be considered by the government, no formal competitive solicitation documents have been released, and the government retains full discretion regarding whether to pursue competitive procurement based on the responses received.
