About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 8 in Tampa, Florida issued a sole source justification notice for emergency circuit tracing services at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital's Building 100 (New Bed Tower). The $916,000 contract was awarded to Delgado Electric, Inc. to address critical safety concerns involving approximately 11,000 mis-labeled electrical circuits across 176 circuit panels that were discovered during a Joint Commission Audit. The urgent need arose when it was found that electrical components including panels, conduits, receptacles, switches, and transformers were improperly labeled, creating severe safety risks for inpatients and potentially compromising the Bio Medical Telemetry System on clinical floors. Delgado Electric was selected as the sole source contractor due to its extensive familiarity with the JAHVH campus and previous warranty services, enabling quick response to address NFPA 70E and NEC compliance issues. The firm-fixed price contract has a 12-month performance period running from August 29, 2025 through August 28, 2026, during which the contractor will trace all electrical components and install new panel schedules with proper labeling as determined by VA specifications.
