About this opportunity

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) at Patuxent River, MD is conducting market research to identify potential contractors for F/A-18E/F Infrared Search and Track (IRST) Block II weapon replaceable assemblies, specifically the Fuel Tank Assembly (FTA) and Sensor Assembly Structure (SAS). These assemblies must be capable of housing critical components including the Infrared Receiver, Processor, Inertial Measurement Unit, and Environmental Control Unit, which will be procured separately. Contractors must demonstrate the ability to perform automated test procedures and troubleshoot issues at their facility. The sources sought notice requires interested businesses to submit a capabilities statement package no longer than ten pages, with submissions due by 4:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on March 20, 2025. All submissions must be emailed to Katlen.r.Saffioti.civ@us.navy.mil and include company details such as name, address, CAGE code, business size, and point of contact information.

The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designation for this procurement, suggesting both small and large businesses may compete. While the document does not specify potential award values or precise quantities, it is part of a full-rate production effort for IRST Block II components for the F/A-18E/F aircraft. The procurement falls under NAICS category 336413 for Other Aircraft Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing, with a Product Service Code of 1680 for Miscellaneous Aircraft Accessories and Components. The sources sought notice is explicitly a market research tool to determine potential vendors' capabilities before issuing a formal Request for Proposal. Importantly, the government emphasizes that this notice does not constitute a commitment to award a contract, and no funds are available to compensate vendors for preparing responses.
