About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to sole source an Eddy Current Array (ECA) equipment from UniWest for the 436 AMXS unit stationed at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. The notice, posted on December 17, 2024, with a response deadline of December 27, 2024, identifies UniWest as the sole manufacturer of the required equipment. The federal contract opportunity is not set aside for any specific small business category and falls under the Computer and Electronic Product Manufacturing NAICS category. The special notice specifically seeks to procure an advanced Eddy Current Testing Instrument Kit that can rapidly inspect aircraft skin and rivet holes using a hand scanner.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to acquire specialized testing equipment that enables quick and comprehensive inspection of aircraft surfaces, with the ability to scan hundreds of rivet holes per hour and provide visual imaging of individual fastener holes. The equipment must be delivered to the 436 MXS Sheet Metal Shop at Dover AFB within 12-14 weeks after purchase, with shipping and handling included in the procurement. UniWest will be responsible for providing the EVI Advanced Eddy Current Instrument Kit and the ECA-64 Scanner, with the manufacturer guaranteeing warranty coverage for any damaged or defective parts. The sole source procurement is supported by a detailed supplier letter from UniWest confirming their exclusive manufacturing status and willingness to provide the equipment at government-competitive pricing. Contractors do not need to compete for this opportunity, as UniWest has been identified as the sole qualified supplier for the specific equipment requirements.
