About this opportunity

The 14th Contracting Squadron at Columbus Air Force Base issued a notice of intent to sole-source award to SmartShooter Inc. for the SMASH 2000LE fire control optics system, with a response deadline of August 28, 2026. This is a non-competitive procurement; however, interested parties may submit a capability statement for consideration in determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future.

The Air Force seeks to fill an immediate capability gap identified by the Department of War Joint C-sUAS Office and recognized under DAF FM 679 waiver—a critical point defense shortfall for dismounted kinetic effects capability against small unmanned aerial systems. The SMASH 2000LE provides predictive tracking and fire control solution that enhances marksmanship, reduces collateral damage risk, and serves as a force-multiplier against fast-moving aerial and ground targets. The system attaches to existing M4 and M4A1 carbines and underwent operational testing at Schofield Barracks on May 1, 2024, achieving 65 percent average accuracy across 10 courses of fire.

Deliverables consist of six SMASH 2000LE systems, each with 12-month warranty, rechargeable batteries, battery charger, cables, accessories, case and operational guide, plus one spare parts kit. SmartShooter's sole-source justification cites standardization requirements across Maxwell AFB, Laughlin AFB, and Spangdahlem AFB; procuring alternatives would invalidate established doctrine and require new training and safety protocols. Capability statements, price lists, and supporting documentation must be submitted via email.
