About this opportunity
Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (Naval Sea Systems Command) is issuing a sole-source intent notice for Thermo Fisher to provide RadEye G remote radiation detector calibration and warranty repair services, with performance at Thermo Fisher's Franklin, Massachusetts facility and a September 1, 2026 delivery deadline to support a special emphasis operation commencing in October 2026.
The procurement covers calibration, preventative maintenance, and certification of RadEye G detectors (part number 4250674) integrated into the shipyard's existing Thermo Fisher remote monitoring system; all services must comply with ANSI Z540.3, ANSI N323A, and ISO 17025 standards. The justification for sole-source procurement rests on three factors: proprietary design and diagnostic tools exclusive to Thermo Fisher, an exclusive licensing agreement under which non-OEM servicing would void manufacturer warranties, and unusual and compelling urgency—the requirement was identified May 12, 2026, and timely OEM calibration is necessary by September 1, 2026 to prevent mission failure and avoid unacceptable operational and financial risk including unnecessary radiation exposure and loss of engineering control. The Technical/Requirements Certification was signed June 17, 2026; Contracting Officer approval was granted June 22, 2026. This notice is informational only and does not constitute a solicitation or commitment to award.
