The United States Air Force, specifically the AFLCMC/PZIBB at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, has published a Special Notice announcing an intent to sole source a contract for maintenance of Nicolet Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analytical systems. The notice pertains to calibration and preventative maintenance services for four FTIR systems located at the Aerospace Fuels Laboratory. The government intends to award the contract to Thermo Electron North America LLC under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 811210 for Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance. Market research determined that Thermo Electron North America LLC is the only known business capable of servicing these proprietary laboratory instruments. The procurement will be conducted under the authority of FAR 13.1036-1(b)(1), with a business size standard of $34.0 million.

Contractors interested in this opportunity must submit any capability statements, proposals, or exceptions electronically to the specified contract specialists by 12:00 PM Eastern Time on June 2, 2025. All prospective awardees are required to register and maintain an active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM). Contractors must follow original equipment manufacturer specifications, provide on-site response within 72 hours for emergency repairs, and maintain an inventory of spare parts deliverable within one day. While the government has determined to proceed with a sole source procurement, they will consider any submitted information primarily to assess the potential for competitive procurement.
