About this opportunity
The Special Notice announces the Department of the Air Force, Air Education and Training Command's intent to sole source the procurement of VEX AIR Drone Competition Bundles for the Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) program. This procurement is being conducted under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) and will result in a firm-fixed price contract.
The purpose of this procurement is to acquire drone packages, including a VEX AIR Drone, controller, modules, and accessories, to support the hands-on learning and extra-curricular activities of the AFJROTC program. The drone packages must meet specific technical requirements outlined in the Statement of Requirements document. Contractors have until July 17, 2024 at 12:00 PM CDT to respond to this Special Notice and provide information demonstrating their ability to meet the entire requirement. The Government will use the responses received to determine if this procurement should be competed or sole sourced to a single vendor. Respondents will not be reimbursed for any costs incurred in responding to this notice, and information submitted will not be returned.
Notice text
The mission of Air Force Junior ROTC is to "develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community." The program achieves this through classroom education in air and space fundamentals and hands on learning opportunities in a number of fun and challenging extra-curricular activities. Without these critical tools and full support of the other extra-curricular activities use by AFJROTC, the program becomes “classroom only”, likely result in a decline in enrollment. Additionally, since this type of challenging, fun, and innovative learning tool is what truly draws new cadets into AFJROTC, many recruiting opportunities will be lost at units that do not receive these items. The result will be a smaller number of high school students who are exposed to the Air Force. This drone will be the second step in a three tier learning objective in drone operations.
