About this opportunity

The United States Marine Corps, through Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni (MCASI) Regional Contracting Office, is seeking qualified contractors to install blast shields on aircraft sunshades at the facility in Japan. This pre-solicitation notice is a Sources Sought announcement designed to identify potential vendors capable of performing the installation services outlined in the draft Performance Work Statement. Interested vendors must demonstrate capability to meet all specifications, maintain active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM.gov), and provide detailed statements of capabilities including company information, points of contact, and business size classification. The government will evaluate responses based on vendors' demonstrated ability to perform the work under NAICS code 332311 (Prefabricated Metal Building and Component Manufacturing), with performance measurement to occur through 100% inspection of installations and CPARS reporting. Responses to this Sources Sought notice are due by December 22, 2025, and interested parties should submit written statements of capabilities that address all requirements in the draft PWS or propose alternative solutions.

The Marine Corps has not designated this opportunity with any small business set-aside. The contract is anticipated to be awarded as a firm fixed-price agreement with a planned performance period from February 1 through February 15, 2026, involving the installation of 10 blast shields on Big Top Aircraft Sunshades in two phases of 5 shields each at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni. The government will execute the work in two phases with all installations to be completed by February 15, 2026, with work conducted between buildings 6020 and 6030 on the MAG-12 flightline. Contractors must comply with strict Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention protocols, maintain a 50-foot distance from aircraft during work, conduct daily FOD inspections, and provide weekly status reports. No specific contract value or budget range is disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice, as the primary objective is to conduct market research to determine source availability and capability before formal solicitation.
