About this opportunity

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Caribbean District has issued a Special Notice regarding an Industry Day event focused on exploring the use of design-build construction contracting procedures for targeted civil works projects. The event will specifically discuss the Rio Puerto Nuevo Supplemental Contract 7 as a potential use case, though the overarching purpose is to gather industry feedback and address concerns related to the suitability of design-build approaches for this type of project.

The Industry Day is scheduled for August 20, 2024, and will be held at the Guardia Nacional de Puerto Rico in San Juan. USACE is encouraging interested contractors to RSVP and submit any advance questions to help focus the discussions on areas of particular interest. The event will include both a large group presentation and one-on-one breakout sessions with USACE personnel. Contractors are not required to be pre-qualified or meet any specific eligibility criteria to attend, and the discussions will center on the general viability and implementation of design-build procedures for USACE's civil works construction program rather than the details of the Rio Puerto Nuevo project itself.

Discussions will be held in person on Tuesday, August 20 beginning at 0800 at the address below. The project will be introduced as well as the design-build process, followed by open forum discussion with the large group. 'One-on-one' discussions with USACE personnel will also be offered in 30 minute time slots from 10:00-12:00 on a first come-first served basis, but emphasis should be placed on the interest and appropriateness of Design-Build procedures as opposed to general capabilities in these discussions as well. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP for both the event and one-on-one discussions, if interested, at earliest convenience to secure a time slot, but registration will be accepted on site prior to the start of discussions.
