About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Disposition Services is offering approximately 7,500 pounds of spent lead acid batteries (SLABs) located at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina for sale through Invitation for Bid (IFB) 33-6013, with bids due by April 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. EST. The batteries are RCRA-exempt material being sold solely for reclamation purposes, with a minimum bid of $0.010 per pound and a guaranteed minimum of 6,500 pounds and maximum of 10,000 pounds available for purchase. Bidders must demonstrate their ability to comply with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations governing battery recycling, identify approved reclamation facilities in a Statement of Intent prior to award, and must not intend to export the batteries outside the United States—with bids indicating export destinations being rejected as non-responsive. The highest responsive bid from a responsible bidder will receive contract award, with the winning bidder responsible for removing all material within 20 business days of notification, obtaining necessary licenses and permits, complying with RCRA Land Disposal Restriction requirements, and providing signed destination shipping documentation from all interim facilities and the end recycler within 30 days of shipment receipt. Standard government sales terms apply, including payment of a bid deposit if the total bid exceeds $25,000, full payment before property delivery, property inspection on an "as-is, where-is" basis with no government warranties except guaranteed descriptions, and storage charges of $0.12 per hundred pounds daily for inside storage and $0.06 daily for outside storage if removal extends beyond the specified removal period.
