About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) is preparing to procure specialized nickel sheet foil for the ICBM Minuteman III weapon system through a purchase order anticipated for award in February 2025. The specific requirement is for nickel foil sheet measuring 0.001 inches thick, with a length of 20 feet and a width between 18-24.5 inches, weighing 10 pounds. This material will be used for protective shielding in higher weapon system assemblies and must strictly conform to drawing 200828091, including passing emissivity testing. The pre-solicitation notice indicates the solicitation will be posted on Sam.gov around January 15, 2024, with responses due by January 30, 2025, at 5:00 PM MST. Vendors interested in accessing detailed drawings must be registered in the Joint Certification Program (JCP).
The contract is designated as a total small business set-aside, targeting manufacturers in the Other Guided Missile and Space Vehicle Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing sector. The procurement involves 20 roll orders (RO) of the nickel sheet foil, with delivery specified to Hill Air Force Base in Utah by April 24, 2025. The procurement corresponds to National Stock Number (NSN) 1420-01-566-3781 and part number 200828091, suggesting a specific technical requirement for defense-related manufacturing. While no specific award value is disclosed, the precise technical specifications and strict compliance requirements indicate this is a specialized procurement for critical military infrastructure. Potential vendors will need to demonstrate technical capability to produce nickel foil meeting exact military specifications and pass rigorous quality assurance testing.
