About this opportunity
The Department of the Army's Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office published a Special Notice seeking approaches to develop a standardized dismounted controller for various robotic systems in support of the Human-Machine Integrated Formation initiative. The controller would need to be applicable across unmanned ground and aerial vehicles conducting assured teleoperation and control of payloads including weaponry and sensors.
The objective is to create interoperability and ease of use through a common dismounted controller hardware. Interested parties shall provide responses by January 29, 2024 with information on relevant experience, cost estimates to design and deliver two prototypes meeting specifications, and assessment of meeting defined performance goals for control capabilities, subsystem integration, communication standards, safety functionality, and ergonomics. The Special Notice details requirements for a rugged controller to remotely operate robotic assets involved in the Human-Machine Integrated Formation program. Information received may aid acquisition strategies and technical requirements development.

Update #2 · Latest ·
Revised 19 January 2024 to extend the response date to 29 Janaury 2024 and publish Q&A.
The Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) seeks approaches to create a standardized dismounted controller hardware to enhance interoperability and ease of use across different robotic systems in support of the Human-Machine Integrated Formation (H-MIF).
The controller should be applicable to a wide range of robotic platforms, including unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) with assured teleoperation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), support maneuver and lethality assured control, variety of payloads (i.e., m the Common Remotely Operated Weapons System- Javelin (CROWS-J), Smoke Obscuration Module (SOM), Tethered Unmanned Aircraft System (T-UAS), and other dismounted robotic systems.
See the attached Request for Information (RFI) for further details.
