About this opportunity

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a civilian agency within the Department of Homeland Security, has issued a Special Notice detailing its Industry Partnership and Outreach Program (IPOP). The notice is specifically designed to provide training and guidance for small businesses interested in establishing a business relationship with CBP. This Special Notice was posted on June 4, 2024, and remains open until December 31, 2029, offering an extended window for potential contractors to engage with the agency. The opportunity is broadly accessible, with no specific set-aside restrictions, which means it is open to a wide range of businesses. CBP's objective is to educate and support small businesses in understanding the nuances of federal contracting within their organization.

The IPOP training program will be conducted consistently on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, with sessions running from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM EST. Interested contractors are required to sign up through the CBP Business Connect platform, specifically by scrolling to the "Request Training" button on the homepage. The training appears to be a comprehensive initiative aimed at demystifying the process of doing business with CBP and providing strategic insights for small businesses. While the notice does not specify strict eligibility criteria beyond being a small business, it suggests a commitment to supporting and educating potential contractors. The program represents an valuable opportunity for small businesses to gain detailed understanding of CBP's procurement processes, potentially increasing their chances of successfully securing federal contracts with this Department of Homeland Security agency.
