About this opportunity

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source purchase order to the Comfort Inn for hotel accommodations required for participants in SIU #124. The procurement involves securing double occupancy hotel rooms for students attending the Special Investigative Unit course, with a check-in date of July 19, 2025, and check-out date of August 16, 2025. The Comfort Inn has been selected due to its strategic location, situated 8.4 miles from the DEA Training Academy and only 450 feet from the Stafford Training Center. The acquisition will be conducted under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures as a firm-fixed price purchase order. This notice is designated as a Local Area Set-Aside with NAICS code 721110 and a business size standard of $40,000,000.

The purpose of this Special Notice is to provide advance notification of the DEA's sole source acquisition while allowing other qualified vendors an opportunity to demonstrate their capability to meet the government's requirements. Interested vendors must submit capability statements by June 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM Eastern Time to Lori.A.Love@dea.gov, though the notice specifically states this is not a request for competitive quotations and no Request for Quotation is available. To be eligible, vendors must have facilities listed on the List of Approved Hotels and Motels for Federal Travelers and must be able to provide the required accommodations during the specified training period. The DEA has emphasized that the Comfort Inn's proximity to training facilities and accessibility to restaurants makes it particularly suitable for the students' needs, and any determination to maintain the sole source approach remains at the government's discretion. The attached redacted sole source documentation provides additional justification for the procurement approach.
