About this opportunity
The National Park Service (NPS) Midwest Region is conducting a market survey to identify contractors capable of replacing the geothermal HVAC system at Homestead National Historic Park's Education Center. The project involves replacing three existing water to air heat pumps, adding a new heat pump for curator storage space, installing new heat pump piping, a heat exchanger, and pump, and making minor ductwork and control modifications. Electrical work will include powering new equipment and replacing door seals in the curator storage space. Contractors must be registered as a small business in the System for Award Management (SAM) under NAICS code 238220 (Plumbing, Heating, and Air-Conditioning Contractors) and must submit the attached Market Research Sources Sought Survey by 1200 CT on April 14, 2025, via email to bridget_parizek@nps.gov. The evaluation will focus on contractors' capabilities, construction bonding capacities, and ability to meet project requirements.
The contract is not set aside for any specific socio-economic category, and no incumbent contractors are mentioned. The estimated project magnitude is between $250,000 and $500,000, with a small business size standard of $19 million. The NAICS code 238220 applies, and the project is classified under the PSC category Z2CZ for repair or alteration of educational buildings. Interested firms are advised to consider their construction bonding capacities when responding to the market survey. The NPS anticipates work will begin in Summer 2025, with the primary objective of improving the HVAC system and environmental controls at the Education Center. This market research is not a formal solicitation and does not guarantee a future contract, but serves to gather information about potential contractors' interests and capabilities.
