The following work will be performed at the JCK Federal Building, 230 S. Dearborn and the EMD U.S. Courthouse, 219 S. Dearborn, Chicago, Illinois. Briefly, and without force and effect upon contract documents, work of contract can be summarized as follows:
1. In the Dirksen Federal Building, replace six (6) shell and tube steam-to-hot-water heat exchangers that serve the high-rise floors. The heat exchangers are original, over 40 years old, and are located on the 28th floor. Include new control valves, controls, and traps. Perform asbestos abatement as required to accomplish all work.
Since this work will be done adjacent to a very sensitive, important Courtroom, all noisy work must be done when court is not in session.
2. In the Kluczynski Federal Building, replace the following steam-to-hot-water heat exchangers which are original to the building and over 30 years old:
On the 40th Floor: One (1) pre-heat/re-heat converter and one (1) secondary water converter (both serve the high-rise floors); and one (1) domestic water heating converter which serves the high-rise floors;
On Floor 13B: One (1) domestic water heating converter which serves the mid-rise floors;
On Floor 13A: Two (2) pre-heat/re-heat converters (one serves the mid-rise, the other the low-rise floors); and two (2) secondary water converters (one serves the mid-rise, the other the low-rise floors); and
On the P-Level: One (1) pre-heat converter in ceiling, 2 pre-heat/re-heat converters which serve the Post Office; and two (2) domestic hot water converters.
The estimated cost range for all work is between $ 500,000 and $1,000,000.00. This procurement is open to all business concerns. The North American Industrial Classification Code (NAICS) is 238220. This is a negotiated procurement; there will not be a public bid opening. The solicitation will be available on or about July 1, 2008.
