About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health Office of Logistics and Acquisition Operations is conducting sole-source procurement of a Hamilton-C6 Ventilator Package for delivery by December 2026, with a response deadline of September 25, 2026. The acquisition is restricted to Hamilton Medical, Inc., as the sole capable source.
The Critical Care Medicine Department at the NIH Clinical Center requires the Hamilton-C6 to maintain invasive mechanical ventilation for adult and pediatric patients in the ICU. The system provides advanced informatics and customized patient monitoring during mechanical support across all patient sizes and ages, enabling increased diagnostics and reduced ICU census. The total estimated value is $47,650.06, covering the Hamilton-C6 base unit, Neonatal Application, and nCPAP-PS Application.
The contracting officer justified sole-source procurement based on proprietary hardware and software interfaces that must integrate with the existing NIH electronic medical record system. Hamilton Medical, Inc., located at 201 Edison Way, Reno, Nevada, is identified as the only source capable of meeting compatibility requirements; alternative products would necessitate significant system modifications, revalidation, and retraining that could compromise operational continuity and data comparability. The acquisition is structured as a simplified acquisition under FAR Part 12 and Subpart 13.5 for a commercial item, utilizing firm fixed-price contract terms.
