About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs National Acquisition Center is conducting market research to identify qualified contractors capable of providing third-party inspection services for High Tech Medical Equipment (HTME) Systems, specifically qualified medical physicist (QMP) inspection services for newly installed medical imaging equipment at VA Medical Centers throughout the United States. The procurement falls under NAICS code 541380 (Testing Laboratories and Services) with a $19 million size standard and PSC code H365. Key requirements include that all QMPs must be board certified by the American Board of Radiology and American Board of Medical Physics or hold a Master's or Doctoral degree in physics with certification from a national certifying body and minimum three years of clinical CT experience. Contractors must confirm receipt of inspection requests within 24 hours, complete inspections within 30 days of task order award, and submit inspection reports within 10 days of inspection completion, maintaining a 90% on-time submission rate. The response deadline for this Request for Information is February 26, 2026 at 2:00 PM Central Time, and interested contractors should submit a capability statement not exceeding 20 pages addressing past experience with similar VA contracts, capability and qualifications to fulfill requirements, and business size and status information.
This is a pre-solicitation notice with no set-aside designation, and no current incumbents or award values have been disclosed. The contract will cover inspection services for 23 equipment modalities including CT, PET/CT, PET/MRI, SPECT, MRI, mammography, radiographic systems, C-arm systems, fluoroscopy labs, lithotripters, and portable systems. The procurement structure will consist of a one-year base period with four one-year option periods, with inspections ordered on an as-needed basis via task orders rather than a fixed volume commitment. Contractors must comply with VA security protocols, including contractor badge identification and restricted access to patient records, and may not disclose OEM proprietary information. The VA welcomes comments and questions on the draft Performance Work Statement and may conduct one-on-one industry meetings for clarification purposes, though this RFI does not constitute a binding commitment or obligate the Government to award a contract.
