About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 6 has published a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source contract to Landauer Inc for Radiation Dosimetry Tag and Monitoring Service. The contract will serve five VA medical facilities and clinics across North Carolina, including Charles George Asheville VA Medical Center, Durham VA Medical Center, W.G. Hefner Salisbury VA Medical Center, Kernersville VA Clinic, and South Charlotte VA Clinic. The VA considers Landauer Inc to be the Original Equipment Manufacturer and sole provider of Luxel Personnel Dosimeters and related dosimetry services. Market research has determined that these specialized items can only be obtained from a single source without causing unacceptable cost duplication or delays in patient care continuity. The dosimetry products and services must be interchangeable and interoperable with existing services at Fayetteville VAMC and Hampton VAMC.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform the market of the VA's sole source procurement intent while providing an opportunity for other capable businesses to demonstrate their ability to provide equivalent services. Any business believing it can supply Luxel Personnel Dosimeters, Dosimetry Products and Dosimetry Services must submit written notice to Cherisse.Hall@va.gov by 12:00 PM EDT on August 22, 2025. Required submission elements include company name, address, point of contact information, phone number, System for Award Management Unique Entity ID Number, and documentation proving manufacturer authorization as a dealer, distributor, or reseller. The VA will review all responses but retains sole discretion in determining whether to compete the proposed acquisition. This firm fixed price contract opportunity falls under NAICS Code 541380 for Testing Laboratories and Services and represents the government's effort to ensure continued radiation safety monitoring capabilities across its North Carolina medical facilities.
